Swap food for service it seems...?.
I have visited this place many times and it seems each time I come it is either Great service and the food is okay, or the service is mediocre and the food is excellent. I believe I would rather have the latter, but that is personal preference.
The alligator is cooked to perfection. The crawfish enchiladas are really good, but really heavy. The crab au gratin was eaten at my table by someone who claims they don't like seafood!!
I'd say check it out just because it is a local type place. The food is normally very good.
Enjoy!!

Real Good..
i recommend to friends from out of town. many locals eat here too.
the menu has exciting dishes. not just fried oyster/puppies. kick-butt etouffe'. stuffed catfish w/ crab/shrimp. pan fried snapper w/ braised asparagus. the gator meat doesn't taste like plain chicken. spicy. yummy. catfish catahoula -- delish. chicken/sausage gumbo to die for.
portions aren't huge but the bread is hot and abundant. it ain't cheap but prices are less than mulates while quality/flavor is higher. they are always packed at lunch. desserts are huge. coffee is good.
some servers seem like retard/reprobates, they're slow, don't refill coffee cup, etc. a couple times my plate has arrived from kitchen w/ semi-warm food. it's only 4 short miles from lafayette at exit 4 on I-49.

Nasty.
It was one of my dads favorites and he always talked about how it was the best. So my family and I from out of town went to eat there last week and we were very unimpressed with the food everything was a joke as far as the food I would rather eat at the waffle house and I hate that place. For the food its not at all the quality for the money. We will never eat there again and will not recommend it.

Amazing Food.
This is tied for my favorite resturant in town, the food is ALWAYS amazing. The brunch is so good you could make yourself sick. The prices are very reasonable. I've had good service and I've had poor service there so that's hit or miss. I'd rather have consistantly good food than consistently good service though. If you're from out of town this is definately the place to go and get a REAL taste of Cajun food!

Amazing Cajun and Incredible Seafood.
Is it a tourist trap? Because there are a lot of locals that love this place more than any tourist might. But not this tourist, because Prejean's was wonderful. Service is weird, but ignore them and just get a ton of food. Get it before your cravings get the best of you.

Simply the best for cajun food.
You simply cannot beat Prejeans for great cajun food. My husband was born and raised in Colorado so any time his family and friends come to Louisiana for the first time THIS is the place we take them. You cannot make a bad choice when ordering. I love the fried alligator appetizer, the crawfish enchiladas are awesome, the Catfish Catahoula, Crab Cakes Covington and any of the Seafood platters are wonderful. This is not health food, so get over it and EAT! It can get a little loud and the place does get crowded on Fridays and Saturday nights so make reservations or just be prepared to wait a bit...it is so worth it!!

Never Disappoints.
I visited Prejeans ten years ago while passing through Lafayette and never forgot the delicious meal I had. I took my family there last week, and the meal was as I had remembered, mouth-wateringly delicious! Prejeans never disappoints!
