Excellent Fare – The food at Antoni has been fabulous from day one. As a Sicilian chef the thought of the bolognese sauce brings me back every time. The ambiance of the bar is like an old world hotel with perfect libations. Price points allows the cafe to be the perfect neighborhood supper spot. If you like good food this is your place.
Awful service; overpriced! Not Returning. – My boyfriend and I made reservations to eat at Antoni's for Valentine's Day at 6. We decided to call to see if we could get in at 4 instead. We were told to wait for about 30 min to arrive. When we did, the place was empty except for 2 other people. He and I were seated in a corner (at a table for four as opposed to one of the many tables-for-two), and we were made immediately aware that reserving guests would be arriving soon, but that "we should be outta here by then." After browsing over the menu, we were ready to place our order. We were informed then (instead of when we called) that what we had chosen, along with the majority of the menu, was not available at the time. (These items would not be offered for an additional 20 or 30 minutes.) The server was condescending. He spoke to us as though we did not meet his standards. However, in his defense, he at least smiled as he overexplained the menu items. To avoid having to find another restaurant on the evening of Valentine's Day, we compromised and managed to choose something available on the menu after being pressured by our waitor's looming presence. Our appetizer was satisfactory. Shortly thereafter, the entree arrived. At this time another party was seated. Our waitor, presumably in pursuit of a more promising tip, neglected us for the remainder of our meal. What was supposed to be a romantic dinner turned out to be a source of embarassment and frustration. Our server did not even bother to light the candle on our table. After completing our meal, we waited, and I mean we WAITED, for our server to retrieve the bill from our table. Sensing our annoyance, he attempted to swoop in and grab the bill unnoticed. Finally, after the bill was paid, we returned home immediately to write this review. This was the worst service we have ever encountered, but our money is accepted everywhere. Next time we want mediocre Italian food we will go to Olive Garden. Surely, we will meet THEIR standards.
